This is the marching band at H. L. Bourgeois which includes the Royals Color Guard.  It is by far one of the most visible organizations here.  We represent the Braves at football games, marching festivals, parades, etc.  The marching band is the ensemble that everyone in the band program must participate in during the school year.

The Symphonic Band is the top performing ensemble at H. L. Bourgeois High School. The Symphonic Band performs higher wind band literature and works to refine playing fundamentals. Members of this ensemble perform at least two concerts a year as well as perform at the L.M.E.A. Large Ensemble Assessment. This ensemble meets once a week after school for rehearsal.

The Concert Band is the 2nd performing ensemble at H. L. Bourgeois High School. The Concert Band performs a variety of wind band literature and works to refine playing fundamentals. Members of this ensemble perform at least two concerts a year as well as perform at the L.M.E.A. Large Ensemble Assessment. This ensemble meets once a week after school for rehearsal.

These ensembles are a scheduled class during the school day and occasionally meet after school to rehearse and perform. This ensemble performs different styles of jazz as well as rock and funk. This ensemble performs at two concerts a year and attends  assessments.

The Royals is our color guard unit of the Marching Sensation.  They provide color and a visual layer to our field productions.  They are expected to dance and spin flags, rifles, and sabres.  This organization is open to the entire school and will be auditioned in the spring of the previous year.  Winter Guard is Color Guard without the band; this group performs a routine to pre-recorded music indoors. The Winter Guard operates from December through March and is a requirement as a member of the Royals. This ensemble performs at competitions solely focused on color guard.

Percussion Ensemble will meet in the spring during percussion classes.  All percussion students are part of the Percussion Ensemble as part of their percussion class.  This ensemble performs at concerts and festivals as needed.
